One of the ways I have been able to create an internet media company and leave corporate america was having my own space on the web or a website. For beginners or non designers like myself there are two routes. Pay someone that you trust, like their work, and are passionate about design or use WordPress and free WordPress themes or Premium WordPress themes that are well worth it. I lean towards Premium WordPress themes because of the SEO value, options, and flexibility to manipulate the design.
Since 2003 I have been using BobbySmall.com for all design work but once WordPress hit with all the themes an great companies such as WooThemes I signed up for the premium monthly membership to access to top notch WordPress themes from their great designers. JobSucker.com is one of my sites that was actually built in combination of Woothemes new Canvas theme and with my designer Bobby Small.
This is a lesson to keep in mind as you go on your own whether it is with a blog, online business, or something else you are passionate about remember to focus on your strengths and outsource the rest. Don’t do things half ass or be something your not. Have I learned some design over the years after owning over thousand websites sure, am I great at that aspect of business not at all. I don’t kid myself or waste time on weaknesses.
Do what you are the absolute great at and love and stop killing yourself with tasks that suck or make your life miserable.
